We bought more tripe today to try out-- buffalo and beef.  I'm going to finish the small amount of duck I have in the fridge for her and then take a break on that for a bit because of her burping.

6:30 pm  Fed ground turkey and a spoonful of duck, l-glutamine and omega3s
8:30 pm  The dogs are chewing on deer antlers.

March 10th

5:50 am  Gave primal defense in water
6:25 am  Fed ground turkey, organ mix, and a spoonful of duck

Sid must have a had a pretty good day.  Some minor burping here and there.  I'm not sure if the duck is really going to be an option if this keeps happening, but I am going to be persistent with it... just slow.

6:30 pm  Fed ground turkey w bone, l-glutamine and omega 3s

Monday, March 9, 2009

11:30 pm  Gave more primal defense in water

March 6th-- start duck

Woke in the morning with normal scratching.  Her armpits and belly are a little red.  She has some bumps in her pits that look a little fluid-filled.  Some are scabbed over.  Her chin bumps are draining/bleeding.

5:50 am  Gave primal defense in water
6:20 am  Fed ground turkey w/bone and organ mix

Sid seemed to have a pretty good day.  When I came home from work she didn't look red at all, besides the scratches in her pits-- looks like she left them alone for most of the day.

6:30 pm  Fed ground turkey w/bone, l-glutamine, and omega3s.  She also got a spoonful of ground duck in her bowl.

Sid was scratching a bit more tonight.  She did make a small bloody spot on her face again.

March 4th

I have been delinquent in posting to Sid's blog lately.
We have finished the lamb we had and I can safely say she's had no problem with it.  I am now feeding just turkey and will try duck in a few days.
I bathed her on Sunday morning and was sure to rinse very very well afterwards.  No problems.
She has been scratching and biting her sides and armpits lately.  So, tonight I bought some GOld Bond powder and put it on her.

Sid seemed to have a pretty good day.  Not itching too badly, but smells a little stinky and her ear is still red and swollen a bit.  I wiped some brown gunk out today, but not very much.  I think it was just waxy, not yeasty.

6:30 pm  Fed ground turkey with bone, l-glutamine and omega 3s
9:00 pm  Gave flower essences.
Sid's skin is flaking off in large pieces!  I thought at first that she had some crumbs spilled on her back or something, but it is her skin.  Eeeew!

Feb 20th

Sid was licking her paws quite a bit this morning
I got part of my Oma's order last night-- turkey organ mix (heart, gizzard, liver) and ground lamb.  It is thawing now so I can separate into smaller portions.  From now on "organ mix" will refer to this Omas turkey mix.

Feb 16th-- Hives again

I need to hatch a new plan. Things are going nowhere... aside from her eye healing a bit (sometimes), I haven't seen any real improvement. She's the same as she was on meds/kibble.
Sid woke up itchy, is chewing her feet, rubbing her face and licking her rear.

5:45 am Gave primal defense in water
6:00 am Gave flower essences
6:20 am Fed ground turkey with bone

1:30 pm  When I got home from work today, Sid was starting to have a couple hives on her back.

4:00 pm  Gave flower essences

Sid's hives are still here, so I think I'm going to give her some benadryl and hope it goes away.
Gave benadryl 75mg in raw honey and a cool bath with just water

Feb 15th-- Grrrrrr

I am SO frustrated.
We've been trying this regimen for 66 days now and I have not seen any improvement.
I don't know what else to do.
Sid goes in for thyroid tests on Tuesday.  Maybe that will give us some answers.

7:00 am  Gave primal defense in water

Well, unfortunately Sidda has been horribly itchy since yesterday.  So, I think I need to discontinue the use of beef.  She's scratching her belly a LOT, chewing her sides and feet, scratching at her ears.  Ears are red, scabby and thick.

Well, I wasn't planning to feed beef again today, but I forgot to thaw anything else...

5:55 am  Gave primal defense in water
6:30 am  Fed 10oz ground beef with bonemeal, beef liver, and ACV

UGGH!!  Sid is VERY itchy tonight.  SO much that she doesn't knock it off when I tell her to knock it off.... :(  That is not a good sign.

We got Sidney's Green Essence from ABFE today.  I plan to give her some before bedtime tonight.

9:15 pm  Gave 5 drops green essence in mouth

Feb 8th-- Beef

Sid was itchy this morning as normal, but she seems to be chewing at her sides and feet instead of scratching her armpits.  She did rub her eye red again, but it is not swollen.

4:20 pm   So far, the beef seems fine.  Sid is acting just as normal as she usually does.

Feb 7th-- tail photos

Sidney's supracaudal gland on her tail is swollen, scabbed and losing hair.  We saw this once before when she was very young.  At that time, she was given cipro to fix it.  Now I will try washing it with ACV and hope for the best.  It doesn't seem to bother her too much, but she does chew at it occasionally.

7:45 am  Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water
8:15 am  Fed ground turkey with bones and veggies.

Sid seems to be doing better with her itching now.  She did scratch her face up near her eye again, but since then she's left it alone.  Some of the scabs on her chest are going away.

5:40 pm  Fed ground turkey plus l-glutamine only, no bonemeal

9:00 pm  Gave primal defense in water

I'm not sure if Sidney is allergic to the beef liver or not, but she has been scratching and chewing more lately... so I did not give it today.  I did order some turkey organs, but they won't come in until sometime the week of the 16th.

When I got home Sidney was still very itchy-- from the toast last night?  She rubbed her eye red again, but not as bad as last time.  She does have a lot of eye goop, though.

5:50 pm  Gave sulphur dissolved in water
6:35 pm  Fed ground turkey meat, beef liver, and bonemeal.  Added l-glutamine

Feb 4th

Sid seemed to be scratching at her belly quite a bit this morning, but she doesn't have any raw spots. She's licking her paws more than she has been lately. Maybe from beef liver? Not sure.

5:55 am Gave primal defense in water
6:25 am Fed ground turkey with bones and ACV

Sid seemed fine when I got home from work today.  Maybe she's been rubbing her eye a bit, but it doesn't look too bad.

7:00 pm  Fed ground turkey and l-glutamine.  She also got a piece of toast... (oops!)

No problems overnight, and she seemed great this morning.

5:55 am Gave primal defense in water
6:25 am Fed green tripe

6:30 pm  Fed ground turkey plus l-glutamine

Sid was scratching at her face an armpits a small amount tonight, especially before bed.  Once she settles down to sleep, she's fine.

Feb 1st

Sidney has scratched her armpits raw again, but we've certainly seen worse. I'm thinking of bathing her today.

7:45 am Fed ground turkey

Sid has been licking at her ladyparts today. She has a small owie she won't leave alone.

6:15 pm Fed primal defense in water
6:50 pm Fed green tripe plus l-glutamine
Sid seemed to have a better night. I did not bathe her. Thinking about doing an ACV rinse.

Jan 31st

Not a bad day.

8:15 am  Gave primal defense in water
8:50 am  Fed ground turkey with bones

Armpit scratching throughout the day.  Sid smells yicky again.

6:45 pm  Fed green tripe with l-glutamine

Jan 30th

Beanie is chewing her rear a bit this morning.  Our humidifier broke, so it may just be a bit of dry skin.  Her armpits are back to normal!  I am going to put zymox in her right ear- the one that was a little gross last night.

5:55 am  Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water.  I warmed the water a little bit to speed up the time it takes for the pellet to dissolve.
6:25 am  Fed ground turkey with bones plus ACV

6:45 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones and l-glutamine
Sid's armpits are a little more scratched up tonight, but not bad.

Jan 29th

I think Sidney is doing pretty well. Eventhough she is still scratching more than a normal dog, I think her progress is quite pleasing. She was chewing her feet this morning, but I think NOW she is chewing out of habit AND because they have no toys to chew on. I think I will give nylabones back to the dogs and see if anything changes. I did not see any differences when I took them away.

5:55 am Fed primal defense in water
6:20 am Fed green tripe and canned mackrel

7:30 pm  Fed ground turkey with vegetables and l-glutamine

Sid looks good tonight.  The flakes of dandruff seem to be less than they were a few days ago.
Her left eye was very crusty and boogery tonight, so I cleaned it up a bit for her with just a dry tissue.  I also cleaned out her right ear, which seemed a bit dirty and waxy, but not horribly gunky.  Her left ear looked fine.

Jan 28th

This morning has been a good one so far.  A little scratching, but nothing too bad.  Sid's eye and face look good.  Her chin is still bumpy-- she was bleeding quite a bit last night, though.  Nothing too serious.  I'd rather have her chin bumpy and ucky than her eye swollen.

5:50 am  Gave primal defense in water
6:15 am  Fed ground turkey with bones and canned mackrel

Sid looks good today

6:15 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones and vegetables plus l-glutamine

Jan 27th

Sid seems pretty good this morning.  She was scratching her chest a bit last night-- maybe from the chicken?  No hives, though. Whew!

5:55 am  Gave primal defense in water
6:25 am  Fed green tripe

Phil said Sidney threw up food twice today while I was at work.

6:40 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones

Jan 26th- oops

This morning while I was cleaning chicken for dinner, Sid accidentally got a small piece meant for Piper.  We'll see if it causes any problems for her today.  She's chewing her paws like normal.

5:45 am  Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water
6:20 am  Fed 1/2# green tripe

The little bit of chicken doesn't seem to have affect Sid at all, thankfully.
Her eye is red and her ear is inflamed.  Chin is still scabby/bumpy.

6:30 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones and l-glutamine

Sidney stole a peanut or two from Phil tonight.

Jan 25th

We woke up this morning to blood coming from Sidney's chin.  I think she opened up some pustules, or they popped on their own.
Her face looks better otherwise, though.  She HATES having her picture taken... these were the best I could get.

8:00 am  Fed ground turkey with ACV

6:30 pm  Fed green tripe and l-glutamine

Sidney has some thinning patches of fur on her back, towards her rear.  Phil thinks it is from wearing her sweatshirt so much.

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Jan 24th

8:30 am  Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water
9:00 am  Fed ground turkey

Sid is stinky again today, but her skin is so flaky, I'd rather not bathe her right now.
She was scratching at her armpits and chest, so I put her sweatshirt on.

7:00 pm  Fed green tripe with l-glutamine

Sid's face is red again.  She removed the scab on top of her nose-- it looks like it is healed underneath, though.  No hair in that spot.  Top of ear is scabby.

Jan 23rd

Licky paws this morning.  I'm trying to distract her, but I guess I'd rather have her do that than dig at herself with her nails.

5:50 am  Gave primal defense in water
6:15 am  Fed green tripe (a little over 1/2#)

Not a bad day, but she scraped the scab off the top of her ear.  Her ears are red and irritated.

6:30 pm  Fed ground turkey with l-glutamine

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Jan 22nd

Itchy morning.

5:55 am Gave sulphur dissolved in water
6:25 am Fed 10 oz green tripe

Sid has done pretty well throughout the day with Daddy home and no sweatshirt.

6:00 pm  Gave primal defense in water
6:45 pm  Fed ground turkey with bone and l-glutamine

Sid was scratching at her eye a lot this evening.  She has some scabby spots in her armpits and across her chest, but nothing too serious.

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Jan 21st- itchy again

Beanie is a bit itchier again.  Her eye and face look better this morning than last night, though.  Her armpits were a bit sticky, but I left the sweatshirt off for now.  She has scratched a small red spot on the front of her chest.

5:55 am  Gave primal defense in water
6:30 am  Fed ground turkey with bones and mixed in some ACV

Not a whole lot of difference during the day.  Her eye looked alright when I got home from work.  Her chin is still red and bumpy, but the pustules don't look as fluid-filled anymore.

6:15 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones, with canned mackrel and l-glutamine

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Jan 20th

I had to put Sidney's sweatshirt on her right away this morning so she would stop digging at her armpits. She gave me a stink about taking her sulphur.

5:55 am Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water
6:30 am Fed ground turkey with bones and canned mackrel

Sid was fine during the day

6:05 pm  Gave primal defense in water
6:55 pm  Fed green tripe with l-glutamine

8:30 pm  Sid started scratching her eye and muzzle bloody again tonight

Monday, January 19, 2009

Jan 19th

Icky sticky armpits again this morning, but I haven't had her wearing a sweatshirt for the past couple days-- so I sprayed them with athletes foot spray and threw a sweathshirt on her. I noticed that her head was a little bloody by the right ear where she had scabs last night.

6:00 am Fed 11oz tripe

6:10 pm  Fed tripe again with l-glutamine

Sid's having a bit of an itchy night.  She's rubbed at her eye a bit again, making it a little redder than it has been.  The top of her ear is scabby-- I think she's been scratching at that too.  Chewing her hind end.... but still better than before.

Jan 18th

Good morning. Nothing new to report-- which for us, tends to be a good thing.

8:45 am Gave sulphur 30c dissolved in spring water
9:20 am Fed green tripe-- about 10-11oz
5:30 pm Gave primal defense in water
6:45 pm Fed ground turkey with ACV and l-glutamine
Sid was itchier tonight than she has been in a while. She was rubbing her eye again and scratching at her armpits. I noticed some scabbing at the top of her ear, where it folds right by her head.

Jan 17th

Sid still seems pretty good today.  She was licking a bit last night until we let her into bed to sleep.  She's chewing her paws and scratching at her face a little this morning.

8:20 am  Fed 1/2# green tripe

We had a good day.  Beanie has very flaky skin right now, but that's fine.  Probably detox from kibble, still, in addition to dry air and the weather?  She has a few staph-like pustule bumps in random spots on her body.
I think she looks a little thin right now, so I am going to start feeding a little more.

7:20 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones and l-glutamine

Friday, January 16, 2009

Jan 16th

Still looking good!

5:55 am  Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water
6:25 am  Fed 1/2# green tripe

Sid's got bumps on her chin and lips.  I am going to wipe them with ACV, but she HATES it!
Phil fed a homemade treat today with flour, cheese, garlic-- no issues.  I told him to make sure to tell me anything he feeds her so we can watch for symptoms.

5:15 pm  Gave primal defense in water
6:20 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones & veggies, mixed with ACV and l-glutamine

Jan 15th with photos

Sidda's eye and face have shown great improvement finally.  She still has bumps on her chin, but they don't seem too bad right now.  The smell also seems to be going away.

6:00 am  Fed green tripe

7:30 pm  Fed groud turkey with bones and vegetables plus l-glutamine.  I was unable to get more of just the plain ground turkey with bones, so this mix has vegetables ground right in.  She didn't seem to have any problems with it as of now.

Jan 14th

Phil came home from Detroit this morning!  Yay!  So, Sid was distracted for a few minutes.

5:40 am  Gave sulphur dissolved in water.
6:15 am  Fed 1/2# green tripe

Sidda seems to have had a good day.  She's been wearing her sweatshirt and sleeping all day.

6:20 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones and l-glutamine

Jan 13th

Sid is stinky this morning. I'm redirecting her and trying to distract her while she's scratching.

5:50 am Gave primal defense with water
6:20 am Fed 1/2# green tripe

Sid had a pretty good day-- scratching was normal (for her).  Her eye looked a little red around the rim like she'd been rubbing it a bit.

6:30 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones, ACV and l-glutamine

Jan 12th

Armpit scratching started as soon as we woke up. I am wondering if this is also a habit she's formed rather than actual itchiness? Her face and eye look fine. Only a few remaining hives on her back legs.

5:50 am Gave primal defense in water
6:25 am Fed 1/2# green tripe

I put Sidney's sweatshirt on for the day while I'm at work.

6:40 pm  Fed ground turkey with bones, ACV and l-glutamine

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Jan 11th

Sid had a good night but still smells horrible.

Not much itching throughout the day.
6:00 pm Fed 1/2# ground turkey with bones, ACV and l-glutamine

Jan 10th

Sid's hives are almost all gone today.  She was scratching her armpits, so I put a shirt on her and she's been leaving them alone.  Her face and eyes look good.  Still some bumps on her lips and chin.
8:50 am  Gave sulphur in water
9:30 am  Fed 1/2# ground turkey with bones and l-glutmine
3:00 pm  Gave primal defense in water
6:00 pm  Fed 1/2# green tripe

I've been washing all of our bedding and clothes in free & clear laundry soap.  Hopefully that will help a bit.

Jan 9th

Yay for benadryl. The hives all over her back are mostly gone, or very small. She still has a few bigger ones on her hind end.
She is digging at her armpits again. They are red, sticky and smelly.

5:50 am Gave primal defense mixed in water
6:30 am Fed 1/2# green tripe with 75mg benadryl

Sid still has hives tonight, but they are not as bad as last night.

6:15 pm  Fed 1/2# ground turkey with bones and ACV

Jan 8th-- vomit and HIVES!!!

Sid woke up about 5:40 am this morning and threw up bile with chunks of chicken bone in it.
She has bumps all over her hind quarters, and her face/chin looks red and bumpy.  Maybe chicken = bad?

6:00 am  Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water
6:30 am  Fed 1/2# tripe with acidophilus and l-glutamine

4:15 pm  I came home form work and Sid's broken out in hives all down her back, near her spine, and her hind quarters and legs.
6:50 pm  Fed 1/2# green tripe with 75mg benadryl

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Jan 7th

Sidney decided to make a snack out of Piper's poops this morning before I could stop her.
6:00 am  Gave primal defense in water
6:30 am  Fed 1/2# green tripe with l-glutamine
Sid was chewing her legs and scratching this morning, so I put her sweatshirt back on her.

6:00 pm  Fed two chicken legs
Miss Thang seems to be licky licky tonight.  She's licking and chewing her paws a lot.  I told her to stop and pointed my finger at her-- she just licked it.  Oy vey!

Jan 6th

I am going to work today, so Sidda will be in her crate.

6:00 am Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water
6:30 am  Fed 1/2# green tripe plus acidophilus

Sid was itchy today and smelled particularly yeasty.

6:00 pm  Fed 2 chicken legs

8:30 pm  Gave bath with microtek shampoo and used zymox in her ears.

Jan 5th

I had the flu all night and all day, so this is a brief one.  Sid had a good day, just like yesterday.  Hardly any itching.

6:00 am  Fed green tripe with l-glutamine

Slept all day.  No itching until evening before dinnertime

6:00 pm  Fed two chicken legs (about 1/2#)

Scratched open the scab on her muzzle

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Jan 4th

Sidney's armpits look better this morning.  They are not moist anymore, starting to scab up a little and no longer bright red.  I am keeping her sweatshirt on for now.
9:00 am  Gave sulphur dissolved in spring water
9:35 am  Fed lamb tripe

We're having a good day so far!  Sid is not too itchy.  Scratching at her ears a bit, but her eye looks good and so does her muzzle.  I've left her sweatshirt on all day so her armpits can have a little break.

6:00 pm  Fed 1/2# beef roast

Saturday, January 3, 2009

Jan 3rd

8:30 am  Gave primal defense in water
9:00 am  Fed 1/2# ground turkey plus bonemeal and ACV

9:30 am  Fed green tripe (less than 1/2#) and canned mackrel

6:00 pm  Fed 1/2# green tripe with l-glutamine
